Anne_Riley_Flowers.JPG (369506 bytes)This site is a resource for Weimaraner rescue organizations and individuals throughout North America to set up cross-country transports for rescue dogs.  Some areas of the country have excessively high numbers of dogs in need,  while others have more homes available than dogs.  This is our initial effort to strike a balance and get homeless Weimaraners to their new FOREVER homes.

nappingrhett.jpg (73779 bytes)Use the clickable map below to locate a transport coordinator in your region.  They will help you make contact with a network of volunteers,  who will shuttle a rescue cross country in a relay of love and support for these wonderful and needy dogs.  This is a 100% free service,  although we have donation contacts and links to a variety of fundraising sites for Weimaraner Rescue.

If you are interested in adopting a Weimaraner,  please CLICK HERE or locate the nearest club to your area through the map below and contact them directly.  They will assist you in the application process and advise you of the suitability criteria for adopting a rescue.  Weimaraners can be a challenging dog to own and some requirements for adoption may strike you as being excessive.  Understand that a rescue has already been though a difficult life and rescue suitability criteria are designed to make sure every placement lasts a lifetime.  If there is no local club in your state or region,  the national clubs of the US and Canada also have rescue programs.  Most rescue organizations and clubs have an adoption fee to help cover costs associated with initial vet checks and spay/neutering.

The Weimaraner Rescue Railroad is not a rescuer organization,  or a placement service.  The WRR is intended to serve as a tool for assisting existing clubs and rescuers with placement of dogs in homes outside their immediate area - possibly in your home!  Costs associated with the WRR are bourn by the individual volunteers in the network.
