Happy Endings... Blake and Rebecca
Lynn lives in Florida and provides a foster home to many rescues in the area. Her biggest problem is when she falls so in love with her "temporary" foster that she can't let them go. She is a fosterer and volunteer transporter for the Railroad. Here is her story about why she became involved in rescue, followed by two rescues she has saved...
I was thinking about a 3rd Weim because Mama Cassie is getting old and I wanted someone to play with Shyanne. I am disabled and knew I had the time to work with a rescue. I made up my mind and put out the word on the WeimList. I do not think it was very long when someone notified me about Rebecca. It was a down to the wire rescue as she was going to be put down the next day. Picking her up has changed my life so much and really opened my heart to rescues. It has taken a lot of patience with her and then after she got settled, someone informed me about Blake and I knew I had to save him too. It was hard with him because he was very dog aggressive and I had to chain him to the front door inside so he could not harm the girls. This hurt my heart but I knew that he needed to learn about what was right and what was wrong. But now that he has come around, it makes me so proud to have saved him also. I talk to anyone that will listen about rescuing any dog of their choice. I have changed my point of view about breeding altogether. There are just so many dogs that need forever homes. I want to find Blake a forever home so I can continue fostering and saving other Weims. If he stays here, I will have to stop as I know there would be problems with bringing another dog into the house. I encourage all I meet to take a long, hard look at adopting a lost soul and saving another baby from death row...I know that I have seen both Blake and Rebecca's expressions change from sad and lonely to loved and happy...there is no greater gift they can give me and I am grateful to have been allowed to open my home and heart to them...Lynn Constable
Rebecca came through
Wyatt's Ruff Rescues in Wauchula, Florida. She was a
mess. Wyatt at 10 years old was trying to save her from the pound but she proved
to be too much for him to handle and he had to return her. When I heard, I
became frantic. I did not want her put down. I called Wyatts mom and she went
and got her back out of the pound and I drove the 2 plus hours to get her. She
jumped up on me and almost knocked me down. (she is a big girl) Rebecca was so
loved starved and the look on her face was "please, please love me".
Well, I did and I took her home to my other two Weim girls. It didn't take too
long to break her of jumping, but she still likes to lick me so much that I
think my skin will come off. The look of desperation has left her face and she
now knows she is loved. She is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but that does
not take away from her loving personality. It did not take her long to be
adopted by the other girls and now she is able to just be Rebecca. I love you so
very much my sweet girl...Lynn Constable
There was a big sign on his cell, it said " NO BLANKETS". He
looked up at me and the tears started rolling down my face. He was skin and
bones, but his eyes were filled with love. I knew I had to spring him from his
prison. I had to tell some white lies to get him out of there, but when we left,
my heart felt a little lighter. They called him Blake, and it kind of fit him. I
sometimes call him Black Blake (even though he is a blue). We had some dominance
issues and we had some dances, but I always lead and he soon learned to follow.
I have three other Weims ( one other is a rescue also) and he has learned to be
a gentleman, with a lot of insistence on my part. This 2 year old boy is such a
joy now and has gained weight and now knows he is loved. He is attached to a
blue ball that has long ago lost its squeak and loves to play ball, outside,
down the hall, everywhere I can throw it. I also tried him at agility and he has
done it before, showed no fear of any of the obstacles. I got him fixed and he
seems to have settled into the household just fine. Now he has all the blankets he
wants, along with a couch, overstuffed chairs, futon pillow, and a lap. I love
you Blake...Lynn
