Remo

Nancy_Remo2.jpg (18950 bytes)Thought it was time for a Remo update.  I just love this guy.  He's been here seven months now but it feels as if we've always had one another.  For those who may not know, Remo was a rescue in Portland with Leslie Like and I flew to get him in March and drove him back to Des Moines, Iowa.  It was love at first sight!  He had anxiety about kennels and being left and so we tried a variety of things.  His age was estimated at seven or eight but he has a very young glow about him.

Kat Berard has done several wonderful communication sessions with him.  BTW, one time he began growling and nipping if we grabbed his collar too fast or spoke loudly...ONE SESSION and it NEVER happened again!  Simply amazing.  I'm sure Kat will be thrilled ;) I've set her up to look like miracles can be expected with one session, but HEY!  that time it was just almost to good to be true.

Nancy_Remo3.jpg (15088 bytes)I also have him on a Bach remedy.  The results so far have been awesome... although I still cannot kennel him, we reached a perfect compromise and he is just fine being left in the house alone.  Judge is 22 months now and still pretty active.  They get along fine....don't do a lot of playing together to Judge's dismay but Remo is dignified and calm whereas Judge is still quite impish. Which explains why Judge is in the kennel when I leave and Remo plays supervisor in my absence.

These photos were taken this morning in the backyard, where Remo loves to sun and patrol.  We're going through a regular obedience class now and Remo is doing great.  We're planning to work toward CGC and a Therapy Dog International certification and I know one thing...if anything holds us back, it won't be Remo, so wish us luck!
