About the Weimaraner... We're still working on this page, but here are some great links to web sites we like about Weimaraners. You can get just about every piece of info you want - both good and bad - from these. Also be sure to check out the WCA (Weimaraner Club of America) and WAC (Weimaraner Association of Canada) links to the left. http://www.weim.net/emberweims/ Here is a little message I received from a friend regarding Weim intelligence: Judge can open round doorknobs, lever doorknobs, drawers, the corner turntable thing to the kitchen cabinets, etc. I have no idea WHY he can't step on the new trash pedal on the bathroom trash, but wish I'd bought this thing over a year ago! It took me months of him raiding the kitchen trash before I bought child locks, and when he figured out drawers, I was afraid I would have to lock everything. But luckily he doesn't mess with drawers until he sees me put something in one he wants, or smells a toy in there I've confiscated for some reason. Remo can open gates in a flash, with all sorts of latches...our chainlink gate just had the U-shaped latch at first and he immediately nosed that open, so I put one of those dog leash end things on it and would you believe he got that?! Now I still use it but I have to face the thing you depress with your thumb on the opposite side of the fence and that keeps him in. Remo never turns doorknobs and Judge never opens gates...they just depend on one another's various specialties. Like someone (or many) have said...one is a handful, two are a conspiracy, and more.....well, I'm leaving that to YOU guys! We're the ones who wanted Weims partly because they were so smart, right? Well, I think there's actually some monkey in their lineage.....dontcha think? -Nancy Oldham |
